Parentification Research Group


Lisa M. Hooper is the Richard O. Jacobson Endowed Chair for Research and the Director of the Center for Educational Transformation at the University of Northern Iowa. She is a mental health and family systems scholar who has both clinical and research experience with underrepresented and underserved racially and ethnically diverse populations.

Dr. Hooper also serves as the principal investigator for several projects directed toward better understanding minority health and mental health care disparities, including cultural and linguistic competence. Prior to coming to the University of Northern Iowa, Dr. Hooper was on the faculty at Georgetown University School of Medicine, The University of Alabama, and most recently the University of Louisville.
